Walk a Mile in Her ShoesThe International Men’s March to Stop Gender-Based Violence
Friday, October 21, 2016
You can’t understand a person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.
YWCA Moncton is challenging the men in our community to walk one mile through downtown Moncton in high-heeled shoes on October 21st, 2016 to help end gender-based violence!
This event, which takes place during the annual international YWCA Week Without Violence, raises awareness of the role that men can play in ending gender-based violence as well as funds for initiatives relating to sexual violence.
Through September and October, men can sign up to complete Walk A Mile in Her Shoes as individuals or as teams and gather pledges from friends and family to support their participation. Leading up to the event, we’ll be showcasing which individuals and teams have raised the most money on a daily basis.
On the day of the event, participants will be given an event t-shirt, fitted with a pair of high heels, and given plenty of photo opportunities before they strut along Main Street. Once the walk is completed, complimentary food and foot massages will be available to participants.
