BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS AND YWCA JOIN FORCES TO STRENGTHEN SUPPORTS FOR GREATER MONCTON FAMILIES

March 3rd, 2018, Moncton (New Brunswick) - The Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Moncton and YWCA Moncton are thrilled to announce a new partnership which will strengthen supports for families.

Through the sharing of executive leadership and space, Big Brothers Big Sisters and YWCA Moncton will increase access to opportunities for families, specifically youth, so that they can develop to their potential, and help strengthen the capacity of the non-profit sector to deliver on their missions.

“Our choice to bring Jewell Mitchell on as our new Executive Director was quite logical,” says Paul Belliveau, President of Big Brothers and Sisters Moncton. “She has demonstrated great leadership skills for a number of years. Being aware of Jewell's abilities made our Board's decision to join forces with YWCA an easy one. We look forward to working with Jewell and her team.”

As Executive Director for both organizations, Jewell is tasked with ensuring that each of the mandates thrive.

“I am excited for the opportunity to bring our two amazing teams together and maximize our collective community impact. By sharing resources and leveraging expertise, I am confident we will be able to offer new programs and services, while enhancing existing ones for families in our communities”, says Jewell Mitchell, Executive Director. “I am grateful to the visionary leadership of both boards of directors, who are fully invested in the possibilities of what this shared service model can achieve.”

“It is wonderful to have Big Brothers Big Sisters operating out of our new YW Jean E.S Irving Centre for Women and Children”, says Sherry Trenholm, YWCA Moncton President. “Each organization will maintain their own Board of Directors while sharing a common location and operating under the same executive leadership. This will ensure even more families have access to the wide range of programs and supports our agencies provide.”
